Ms. Mullen’s preschool class had a great “Hat Share Day” today, in celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday last week. Students have loved exploring poems and rhyme by reading books including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Foot Book.
Not only known for his ability to construct creative rhymes, Dr. Seuss intentionally instills deeper meaning and lessons in his stories. Students have enjoyed discussing how these larger lessons - such as being responsible, being unafraid to try new things, and accepting differences - apply in their own lives.
We loved seeing the different hats that students chose to wear; it was a great wrap-up to the work Ms. Mullen’s class did reading poems, discussing rhymes, and practicing important themes of bravery and kindness.
