STEAM Expo Project - Making Kombucha
Posted 03/09/2018 09:31AM

Grade 7 students Charlie, Lou, and Darcey are learning about and making Kombucha for their STEAM Expo project. Kombucha is fermented tea, an ancient elixir consumed for hundreds or thousands of years by civilizations all over the planet.

Last week, they conducted an interview with Hannah Crum, aka The Kombucha Mamma. Hannah is a local small business owner and the author of The Big Book of Kombucha. She and her husband run Kombucha Kamp, a company designed to educate and promote all things Kombucha related. Hannah is also the Kombucha Trade Association president.

The girls peppered her with questions during the interview about a range of topics from the technical aspects of promoting probiotic bacterial growth in their Kombucha, to the challenges and benefits of being a small business entrepreneur. Be sure to stop by today's Middle School STEAM Expo to learn more about the girls’ Kombucha project, which will include DIY tips on how to make your own Kombucha!
