Turning Point welcomed guest artist and author, Thyra Heder, to the Turning Point campus on Wednesday, February 28. Ms. Heder led a workshop with Kindergarten and Grade 1 students, where she read aloud from her book, Alfie, and shared a behind-the-scenes look at how she wrote the story and designed the illustrations.

Alfie is about friends viewing the world differently, and is a resource that helps us continue conversations with young students about valuing differing perspectives. A Turning Point parent kindly donated a copy of Alfie for every Kindergarten and Grade 1 student, and Ms. Heder personally signed each one for our students.

Ms. Heder’s visit served as inspiration to our burgeoning artists and writers! For more information pertaining to Ms. Heder’s work, please visit her website: www.thyraheder.com.
