Application Process

Regardless of the grade level to which you are applying, the application process is the same:

  1. Visit Campus
  2. Complete Online Application
  3. Submit Recommendations and School Records
  4. Parent Interview
  5. Student Visit

The above steps are the minimum required to file a complete application with the Office of Admissions; however, you will have additional opportunities to get to know Turning Point through optional events and activities. For more information for your specific grade level, please see below.

Preschool

1. Visit Campus

  • Prospective families must visit campus prior to submitting an application. A link to the online application will be sent to you once you have toured.

2. Complete Online Application

  • Please complete the Applicant Information, Family Information, Parent Questionnaire, and Application Fee. You may choose to include a family photo but it is not required. A non-refundable application fee of $150 is required at the time you submit your online application. If you are applying for tuition assistance, this fee may be waived. 3. Parent Interview

  • Once you have submitted your application you will be able to schedule your parent interview online via the admissions portal. Parent interviews are 45-60 minutes in length and all custodial parents are required to attend.

4. Submit Recommendation Form

  • For preschool applicants currently enrolled in school, please submit the Recommendation Form. If the student is not currently in school or attends only daycare or toddler group, no form is required. All recommendations should be submitted between December 1, 2017 and January 19, 2018.

5. Student Visit

  • Preschool student visits are 30 minutes in length and are held on Saturday, January 20, and Saturday, January 27, 2018. Your child will participate in activities in a classroom setting with a small group of other applicant children.

Kindergarten

1. Visit Campus

  • Prospective families must visit campus prior to submitting an application. A link to the online application will be sent to you once you have toured.

2. Complete Online Application

  • Please complete the Applicant Information, Family Information, Parent Questionnaire, and Application Fee. You may choose to include a family photo but it is not required. 3. Parent Interview

  • Once you have submitted your application you will be able to schedule your parent interview online via the admissions portal. Parent interviews are 45-60 minutes in length and all custodial parents are required to attend.

4. Submit Recommendation Form

  • For kindergarten applicants currently enrolled in school, please submit the Recommendation Form. If the student is not currently in school or attends only daycare, no form is required. All recommendations should be submitted between December 1, 2017 and January 19, 2018.

5. Student Visit

  • Kindergarten student visits are 40 minutes in length and are held on Saturday, January 20, and Saturday, January 27, 2018. Your child will participate in activities in a classroom setting with a small group of other applicant children.

Middle School (Entering Grades 6-8)

Visit Campus
  • Prospective families must visit campus prior to submitting an application. Middle School candidates are invited to attend a Friday tour or Middle School Open House with their parents. A link to the online application will be sent to you once you have toured.
Complete Online Application
  • Please complete the Applicant Information, Family Information, Parent Questionnaire, and Application Fee. You may choose to include a family photo but it is not required. A non-refundable application fee of $150 is required at the time you submit your online application. If you are applying for tuition assistance, this fee may be waived. Please contact Christian Davis, Director of Admissions at cdavis@turningpointschool.org.
Parent Interview
  • Once you have submitted your application you will be able to schedule your parent interview online via the admissions portal.  Parent interviews are 45-60 minutes in length and all custodial parents are required to attend.  Please note that Middle School candidates have their own visit day, and do not attend the parent interview.
Student Visit
  • Middle School Student Visit Day will be held Wednesday, February 21, from 12:30-4:30 pm. This day consists of both individual interviews and small group activities. Once your application is submitted, a time slot will be assigned.
Submit Recommendations, Student Records, and Testing
  • Math and English recommendations are required for each student applying to our Middle School. If the student has only a single teacher for all subjects they may submit recommendations from both the current and previous head teacher. Candidates applying from private school must also submit the Administrative Recommendation
  • A full two years of transcripts plus the first marking period of the current school year are required and must be sent directly from your current school to our office. All standardized testing records should also be sent with the transcripts.
  • All Middle School candidates must submit a score report from the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The test may be taken up to two times per academic year at any test site. If a student takes the test more than one time, the admissions office would prefer to receive both of the applicant results, but it is at your discretion. To ensure timely receipt of scores, be sure to include Turning Point School (054174) as a score recipient. The test may be taken at any site. To learn more about the ISEE and to register, click here.
  • All recommendations, test scores, and transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office between December 1, 2017 - January 19, 2018.

Transfer Students (Grades 1-5)

1. Visit Campus
  • Prospective families must visit campus prior to submitting their application. A link to the online application will be sent to you once you have toured.
2. Complete Online Application
  • Please complete the Applicant Information, Family Information, Parent Questionnaire, and Application Fee. You may choose to include a family photo but it is not required. A non-refundable application fee of $150 is required at the time you submit your online application. If you are applying for tuition assistance, this fee may be waived. Please contact Christian Davis, Director of Admissions at cdavis@turningpointschool.org.
3. Parent Interview
  • Once you have submitted your application you will be able to schedule your parent interview online via the admissions portal.  Parent interviews are 45-60 minutes in length and all custodial parents are required to attend.
4. Submit School Records and Recommendation Forms
  • Applicants to Grades 1-5 should submit two full years of report cards plus the first marking period of the current school year; or what ever school records are available (for example a first grade applicant might not have any records yet). All records must be sent directly from your current school to our office between December 1, 2017 - January 19, 2018.
  • A Teacher Recommendation from the current teacher is required for each student applying to transfer to Turning Point. Candidates applying from private school must also submit the Administrative Recommendation.
5. Student Visit
  • Student visits for applicants to 1st grade will be held on the Turning Point campus on Saturday, January 20 and Saturday, January 27, 2018; appointments are 40 minutes in length. Your child will participate in activities in a classroom setting with a small group of other applicant children.
  • Applicants to Grades 2-5 visit in the Turning Point classroom for 90 minutes during a traditional school day.  They will spend part of this time with the students and part of this time completing an individual assessment with the teacher.  Please note that visits take place during the month of February on the basis of expected space availability and all required transcripts and recommendations must be received before a visit will be scheduled.

Relocating/International Families
