Day Care

Turning Point tailors daycare according to the age of the population attending it. Morning daycare, provided gratis from 7:30-8:30 a.m., offers supervised play in one of three locations. Afternoon daycare, offered on a fee basis, provides students in each division with a safe, interactive, after school environment.

The youngest children, those in Primary and K-1, spend one supervised hour on the Primary playground and then move inside. K-1 children complete their homework and later join Primary children to work on art projects and other activities provided by the daycare supervisors.

The Elementary children participate in various sports on the elementary playground from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. At 4:00, they also move indoors for an hour study period. After completing homework, the children may choose from a variety of indoor activities, including board games and art projects.

Middle School students experience a supervised homework session. Students who have completed their work may play educational games or play basketball in the gymnasium. Some students use part of this time to meet with teachers or for Internet research.

Washington D. C. Trip

In the midst of our nation's capital, level 8 students witness lessons learned in history and social studies first hand. Students visit landmarks that put historical figures in context and view the historical documents that shaped our nation. The Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian offer insight into some of humankind's darkest moments and greatest accomplishments. Through trips to the Capitol Building, Supreme Court, and other sites, students gain a first-hand account of how our government work together to develop policy affecting the communities with and beyond this country. While in the District, students will see, hear, feel, touch, smell, and taste the effects of strong citizenship in action. Students return energized to support issues they find to be important themselves.
