The After School Enrichment Program offers a diverse selection of classes during three eight-week sessions each school year.
The courses run daily from 3:15-4:15 pm (unless otherwise noted) and are taught by Turning Point teachers and outside professionals.

Athletics
This class is designed to allow the Primary student a comfortable atmosphere to explore the world of sports. Basic skill level sports will be taught and safe interactive games will be played. Students will develop spatial awareness, hand-to-eye coordination, and social skills – working with new and old friends.

The Sports Club is designed to allow students who enjoy running, throwing, kicking, and generally having a good time on the playing field to begin to learn the games we play. We'll work on individual skills, learn rules and strategy for many games, and spend a great deal of time playing those games. In the process, we'll stay active, make new friends, and strengthen old friendships.

If you are crazy about sports and want to improve your skills, then join Coach Colley and Coach Snyder on Fridays after school. Through team oriented and individualized drills, students will learn and practice a variety of sports including football, basketball, soccer, handball, and many more! Students will also have the opportunity to scrimmage and display their newly learned techniques while gaining a better understanding of gameplay and sportsmanship.

Soccer Shots is a leader in youth soccer development for young children. This nationally recognized non-competitive skills program offers a high energy, fun, age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. The enhancement of a child's coordination, balance, and agility is often seen immediately, but it is the building blocks being created for a life-long love of sports that have the strongest impact.

Tee it up with TGA! TGA Premier Junior Golf brings the golf course to school! This national, award-winning, five-level program is specially designed for children and focuses on safety and having fun while instilling self-confidence and life values through professional golf instruction. Students learn the fundamentals, etiquette, and rules of the game with a low student to instructor ratio. Plus, we provide all the equipment so everyone has the chance to come out and tee it up!

Language & Culinary Arts
Our amigos will have the opportunity to expand their current español knowledge through storybooks, learning sight words, enhancing comprehension, and expressing complete thoughts in the target language. Each session will focus on vocabulary relating to holidays and everyday vocabulary that will allow the amigo to make home and school connections. Our amigos will bring home a new book and activity after every session, allowing our padres the opportunity to practice and learn with our amigos.

Performing Arts - Theatre
In the spring trimester, "It's Showtime!" will go all out and put on a show! Students will receive their parts on the very first day of class, so we can work towards a performance at the end of the term. Students will also get to help create costumes and scenery for their show. As this class builds upon the skills learned during the fall and/or winter trimesters, enrollment priority will be given to students who have previously taken "It's Showtime!" (this year or in a previous year).

Performing Arts - Music
In Percussion Studio, students will: perform on a percussion instrument accurately and independently, alone and in small and large ensembles, with good posture, good playing position, and good stick control; perform with expression and technical accuracy on at least one percussion instrument a repertoire of instrumental literature with a level of difficulty of 2, on a scale of 1 to 6; perform music representing diverse genres and cultures, with expression appropriate for the work being performed; and play by ear simple melodies on a melodic instrument.

Dancers will work on leaps, turns, jumps, jazz, and hip-hop dance technique, as well as basic gymnastic skills and tricks, including floor and balance beam. Dance routines will be taught to the latest popular music. So Fly Dance/Gymnastics classes are always age appropriate and fun!

The fundamentals of old and new-school hip hop dance. Skills include popping, locking, stepping, freestyling, and breakdancing in precisely choreographed routines. We will have an end of session performance to show off your skills! No previous dance experience is required. (Knee pads recommended and tennis shoes/sneakers required.) All music and choreography are strictly age appropriate.

Breathe, move, sweat, and groove! This class mixes vinyasa flow with rockin' music to give students a fun introduction to yoga. We will learn various poses, meditation, and breathing, all set to music. Yoga is great exercise and reduces stress. This class is appropriate for students who have never taken yoga and for those with some experience. Students will not need to provide their own yoga mat.

Science, Games, & Technology
If you love to make a huge mess… then this is the perfect hands-on class for you! Throughout this trimester, we will use our hands to make lots of ooey gooey experiments. Our little experimenters will make oobleck, glow-in-the-dark slime, silly putty, and much more. Each child will participate in the making of the project, have a chance to work with the material, and take a sample home to keep. Beware! You must be willing to have fun and get your hands dirty!

Come and explore in the garden! Hands in the Dirt provides a fun and engaging outdoor/indoor class and helps students to develop an appreciation of our natural environment and what it has to offer. This class is hands-on and will allow students to plant and nurture flowers and plants while learning how to spend more time outdoors and connecting with nature. Students will be able to make their own healthy snacks using the vegetables they grow. They will learn about vegetables, fruits, herbs, climates, and bugs that can be helpful to a garden. Come and take a look into the garden and be prepared to get dirty!

As the follow up to Robotics 101 this class builds upon previously acquired skills to design and program more intelligent robots. While previous experience is a plus, beginners will fit right in. Computer programming, engineering, Legos, and robots, this class offers it all. Join us as we put our thinking caps on and construct some of the most intelligent robots, out of Legos! This class will be loads of fun as we explore the basics to building and programming our robots to challenging and competing with them. We'll make them walk, talk, and run obstacle courses too. There's really no limit to what you can do!

*Robotics 101 is the pre-requisite course for Tornado Robotics and Advanced Robotics.
(Although this class began last trimester, interested students can join the team for the second trimester): Calling all programmers, engineers, and robotics enthusiasts! Students will explore advancing robotics concepts throughout this two hour, eight week class with the help of the 2nd Volume of the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Engineering Curriculum. Students will learn sound building techniques, how to calculate gear ratios, and will practice using the vocabulary associated with physics and engineering. Students will collaborate to complete three engineering projects that involve automated mining, a patrol robot, and an automated tree measurer in which students learn advanced programming concepts and teambuilding skills. In order to participate, students must have already taken Robotics 101 with Ms. D'Amato.

Calling all young inventors and digital artists! Exercise your creativity and problem solving skills in this one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art classroom. Students will build their technological capacities through a wide variety of topics ranging from graphic design, to working with solar power, to stop-motion-animation and much, much more. Students are also introduced to the idea of creating an electronic portfolio. All projects are student driven and the scope of the material covered depends on the students' experience and the level of his or her work ethic.

This class is designed for children with previous experience working with clay. Warning: we will get dirty! We will explore the use of different sculpting tools, texturizing the surface of clay for magical effects, and how to use a variety of techniques to enhance our projects. We will work from the real to the abstract using special paints and finishes. Other media, such as wood, plaster, and core board, will also be explored. At all times, our goal is to create and express with support and confidence.

This class will show students how to cast on, bind off, and create some basic stitches on double rake (rectangular) looms or long looms. All classes meet from 3:15-4:15 pm unless otherwise noted. Regular class enrollment minimum is six students, eight students for athletic classes, except where noted. Class enrollment maximum has been determined by each individual teacher--please see course descriptions.
