Traditional Camp Program Information

We are incredibly excited about the enhancements we have in store for this summer to take our already fabulous summer experience and make it even more fun and engaging. We now offer two classes per day to all students Levels 1-5, which allows all our campers a chance to explore and experiment with disciplines that they are interested in or passionate about. The Concentration will meet four times a week, the Exploration meets three times per week. Traditional Camp consists of two, two-week sessions, both of which culminate in Friday Presentation Days when we invite the Turning Point community to experience their work.

Our Primary and Kindergarten programs continue to serve as a bridge to and an extension of our unique and world class Early Education Program, which serve as the foundation for the first-rate education our students receive through the end of our program in Level 8.

SPECIAL DAYS
Nothing says "summer" quite like Camp Special Days. Campers go nuts for Super Water Slide Day, Fiesta Friday, Pine Car Derby, Luau Day and the Summer Olympics, to name just a few.

FIELD TRIPS
Campers enjoy several of Los Angeles' fun summer experiences on weekly field trips. Trips will include Pacific Park at Santa Monica Pier, a day at the beach, Soak City at Knott's Berry Farm, Rock Climbing, and a day at the movies. What a blast! (Please note that not all campers go on all field trips.)

GAME ROOM
The Game Room returns with non-stop amusement and fun. Pop-a-Shot is geared up for basketball shoot-outs, arcade games are revved up to go, and Dance Dance Revolution is on deck for you to boogie! Also, foos ball, air hockey, and carom boards are just a few of the interactive games that await you this summer. Time in the Game Room is prized by Turning Point campers year after year.

CAMP SLEEPOVER
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a sleepover with fifty of your closest friends? At our Turning Point Summer Camp sleepover, in our very own gymnasium, you will have the chance to find out! You will enjoy extra play time, late night games, a pizza dinner, a movie on the gym's big screen, a gourmet breakfast in the morning, followed by a lunch provided by camp. There will be an early afternoon dismissal for those campers who have slept over. (Please note that not all campers sleep over.)

Collaboration with Otis School of Design

The Middle School program encourages creative expression. All Level 6 students, for example, take a course in Visual Art. One aspect of this course involves collaboration with college students at Otis School of Design. The Turningpoint/Otis team chooses a new and unique task every year—one that is challenging to our students' imaginations while still emphasizing the basic technical aspects of design. Students quickly discover that the methodology involved in bringing a complex artistic project to completion is challenging. The creative struggle seems to engage the students to work even harder to see the project reach a finished state. Last year, our students brought their concepts of form, function and play to fruition as we worked with Otis to design and create action figures.
