Otis School of Design

The Middle School program encourages creative expression. All Level 6 students, for example, take a course in Visual Art. One aspect of this course involves collaboration with college students at Otis School of Design. The Turningpoint/Otis team chooses a new and unique task every year—one that is challenging to our students' imaginations while still emphasizing the basic technical aspects of design. Students quickly discover that the methodology involved in bringing a complex artistic project to completion is challenging. The creative struggle seems to engage the students to work even harder to see the project reach a finished state. Last year, our students brought their concepts of form, function and play to fruition as we worked with Otis to design and create action figures.
