Elementary : Creative

Students gain exposure and practice in a wide array of media and technique. Painting, sculpture, collage, photography and multimedia projects coordinate with classroom themes. The Orff-Schulwerk and Kodaly techniques introduced in the Primary division continue here to further develop fundamental music skills. We introduce basic ensemble concepts through group music activities. At Level 5, students are ready to apply the techniques they have been developing with their involvement in Beginning Band.

Festival of the Arts

Once enrolled in the Elementary division, students begin to gain an appreciation for an array of art forms. Our annual weeklong Festival of the Arts allows Elementary and Middle division students to showcase, present, and perform in all areas of artistic expression. Our visual artists exhibit paintings, sketches, sculptures, multimedia creations and photographs. Our writers read original short stories and poetry. Our performers present dramatic work, musical numbers, and even dance pieces. We witness an impressive progression of skill and expressiveness as imaginations broaden and creative voices become more defined.
